# Active Users

### **Understanding "Active Users"**

"Active Users" represent users who have demonstrably engaged with our platform within a given timeframe (typically a month). This metric focuses on user actions that indicate interaction and value derived from the product.

### **Methodology**

A user is considered "active" if they perform **one or both** of the following actions within a month:

* **Sending a message:** This signifies initiating communication within the platform.
* **Receiving a message:** This indicates active participation in conversations on the platform.

**Important Note:** A user is counted **only once per month**, regardless of the number of messages sent or received. This prevents duplicate counting and provides a clearer picture of user engagement.

### **Example:**

Let's say a user sends 10 messages and receives 20 messages in a month. They would still be counted as just **one active user**.

### **Growth Tracking:**

We utilize the percentage change over a previous period (e.g., month-over-month) to track growth in active users. In the example provided (3vs0 = +300%), this signifies a significant increase (300%) in active users compared to the previous period (where there were 0 active users).
