Flows Messages

Flow block messages are a type of interactive messages that allow businesses to send a Flow to their customers. Some notable points to understand flow message are:

  • A Flow is a sequence of screens that guide the user through a task or a conversation, such as booking a service, filling a survey, or providing feedback.

  • Flow messages have a call to action button that triggers the Flow when the user taps on it.

Flow and Flow messages are the two different thing. Flows are triggered when the user taps the CTA on the flow message sent to the user.

Use Cases of Flows Messages
  • E-commerce: Flow block messages can help businesses showcase their products, offer discounts, collect customer information, and confirm orders.

Different Flows Messages

Flows messages can be based on different elements depending upon the scenario is it being designed for. Let's explore what all element we can use to create flow message along with some use case.

  1. Text Based Flows Messages

Plain text messages that can be used to convey information or prompt user interaction.

Example

These are mostly used when direct actions are included say, while when you want the flow message to trigger a survey to be filled by users.

  1. Image Based Flows Messages

Allows businesses to send image-based flow messages along with text to users. Image based flow messages have the most use cases.

Example

Say a customer ask to a restaurant business 'Can I book a table?' The business can quickly respond with a image along with a body message and CTA that triggers the flow to 'book a table.'

  1. Video Based Flows Messages

Enables businesses to send videos to users.

Example

These can be used in taking product feedbacks like you may attach a previous customer feedback video and add a text message and CTA that persuade the new customer to provide a feedback via the flow.

  1. Document Based Flows Messages

Allows businesses to send documents to users, such as PDFs.

Example

Document-based flow message might be used while creating, say, a small lucky draw.

You can attach the terms & conditions pdf along with a body message describing the quiz and a CTA that leads to flow entailing quiz questions.

Now that we know the different elements used in creating a flow message, let's create a flow message.

Suppose we create a flow for booking a table at a restaurant and to set it in action we need a flow message that triggers the created flow.

Let's create steps for the same!

Create Flow Message

  1. Name Flow Message

  • Start by giving a descriptive name to your flow message. This helps you identify and manage your messages easily.

For our case, a relevant name can be 'Book Table.'

  1. Select Message Type

  • Choose the message type based on the content you want to deliver. There are different options, choose the best that suits your need.

For the above case we create a image based flow message that entice customers and guides through the flow.

  1. Body Message

  • This is where we compose the content of your message that provides customers information what the message is about or persuade them to take specific actions.

For our case, we can create a body message like

Discover our neighborhood {{restaurant name}}, classic cocktails and local flavors!

  1. Advanced Options

  • Optionally, include a footer message to provide additional information or context.

For our case, we don't need a header, so we simply toggle it off.

  1. Choose Flow

  • Pick a published WhatsApp flow from the drop-down that best suits your message. If you want to create a new flow, tap 'Create Flow.'

We have created the flow 'Table Booking' for the case, so we simply select that.

6. Button Name

  • Add a button with a name that prompts users to take a specific action within the flow.

To trigger the flow, we need a button, and as per the case above, we can name our button as 'Book Now.'

7. Create

  • Review for modifications, including the message type, content, flow selected, and button name. Click on the "Create" button to save and activate your flow message.

A flow message will now be created and is visible in the table.
