This is where you can create templates which can be used in promotional and notification campaigns or to initiate journeys.
Create Template option is accessible from the Active, Archive, or Template Library section, available in the Template Tab.
Follow WhatsApp template guidelines while making templates.
Before we head on to how to create a template, it's best to know the kind of templates for better categorization during creation. Chatman allows three types of template creation:
These are pre-designed messages in WhatsApp Business API that serve practical purposes, like sending order updates, shipping information, or transaction receipts.
1. Account Verification
Hi {{user_name}}, to ensure the security of your account, please enter the verification code: {{verification_code}}. Thanks for choosing {{business_name}}! 🔐
2. Appointment Reminders
Hello {{customer_name}}! Just a friendly reminder about your upcoming appointment with {{business_name}} on {{appointment_date}} at {{appointment_time}}. See you soon! 📅
3. Bill Payment Confirmation
Hi {{customer_name}}! Your payment of {{amount}} for {{service_type}} has been received. Thank you for choosing {{business_name}}. Let us know if you need any assistance! 💸
4. Service Status Updates
Hey {{customer_name}}, great news! Your {{service_type}} is now completed. If you have any feedback or questions, feel free to reach out. We value your satisfaction! 😊
5. Subscription Renewal Notice
Hi {{customer_name}}, we appreciate your continued subscription with {{business_name}}. Your plan is set to renew on {{renewal_date}}. Let us know if you have any changes in mind. Thank you! 🔄
Note:
If a template has both utility and marketing aspects, it is categorized as marketing and utility. For eg:
"Hi {{Customer Name}}! Your recent purchase of {{Product}} is on its way (utility), and guess what? As a token of appreciation, here's a special 10% discount on your next purchase! Just use code: THANKYOU10 (marketing).
These templates are for verifying a user's identity or confirming an action, often through a one-time code or link sent via chat.

2. Password Reset

Marketing templates are messages tailored for promotional purposes, helping businesses share offers, product launches, or engaging content with their customers.
1. Welcome Series for New Subscribers
Hey {{Subscriber Name}}! 🌟 Welcome to our community! We're thrilled to have you on board. Get ready for exclusive content, offers, and surprises! 🎉
2. Abandoned Cart Reminder
Hi {{Customer's Name}}, noticed you left something in your cart. Did life get in the way? Complete your purchase now, and enjoy your chosen items! 🛍️
3. Special Occasion Discounts
Happy Birthday, {{Customer's Name}}! 🎂🎉 As a token of our appreciation, here's a special 20% off coupon just for you. Treat yourself to something fabulous! 🎁

All the templates that doesn't fall under utility and authentication are categorized as marketing template.
Let's suppose you want to make a 'welcome back' template for greeting users. To make it, you head over to the 'Template' tab and tap 'Create Templates' available under the Active, Archive, or Library tab.
Decide on what name you want to give to your template. The welcome template we're working on belongs specifically to those who visit again (not for first-time customers). So a relevant name could be 'welcome_back.'
It is advisable to give a category name along with a specification (if applicable) for seamless future access.
Now you need to select the category for which you want to create the template. It is of three types: utility, authentication and marketing.
The template we're creating is a marketing content so we select marketing.
Choose the language from the drop-down and tap 'create a template.'
Let's say we want to create the template in English. We simply search and select.
A page as displayed below will appear.
On the left-hand side, you can edit the previously added details like template name, category, and language and get options for the template header.
In the middle, the body, footer and buttons for the templates to be added.
On the right-hand side, you can see the template preview simultaneously as you make modifications.
Let's say you want to add a header for your 'welcome_back' template. On the left-hand side, you get a lot of header options. Choose the one that meets your needs.
Here, we only need a text header with the message: Welcome back {{name}}!
Add variables to your header in the middle tab for dynamics based on set attributes.
You might want to call your customer with name for a personalized communication; this is how you can do that.
Simply add {{ }} and in between what you want to fill, here we want name so our final header is : Welcome back {{name}} !
Add a relevant body message. You can bold, italicize, strikethrough and monospace the body text by selecting the content and tapping the buttons simultaneously.
Just as above, you can add dynamic fields to your body to better connect with your audience. For our template we can use a body like
It's great to see you {{name}} back onboard. Since you were our loyal customers, we offer you a 20% discount on your next purchase.
Add footer option like, type 'STOP' to if you want to receive no updates.
Adding a footer enhances customer experience allowing them to opt-out for notifications and updates when they want to.
Add buttons according to the template needs and aim. The different buttons available are:
The best button that suits our 'welcome_back' template need is copy offer code, so we select that.
Preview the template on the right hand side for identifying errors.
Tap 'Save for later' to add to private collection and submit to sent it for approval.
Say we want to save for later.
A popup 'add to private collection' appears. Choose type Industry or application.
Our templates is a Application one hence we select application.
Now select a application. The template we're working on is a marketing one so we select marketing.
Finally, tap Confirm to publish it to the private collection.
The submitted template will be added to the Active in the Template Tab.
The template will be saved in its relevant category if you have the admin rights otherwise it will be stored in the Private collection.
A Private Collection can hold 50 templates.
