# Segment

Dividing audience based on traits and attributes for targeted campaigns.

Create segments to **divide your audience based on common characteristics**, **user** **tags**, **conversational** **labels** and more for the **purpose of running campaigns**.

The segment tab consists of two main options:

1. [**Add Segment**](#add-segment)
2. [**Search and Filter** ](#search-and-filter-segment)

## **Add Segment**

This allows you to create various groups, each with numerous audiences based on specific criteria. Segment can be based on two types:&#x20;

1. [**Static Segment** ](/chatman-enterprise-whatsapp-platform/chatman-functions/segment/add-segment/static-segment.md)

A static segment is a **predefined group of audience that you manually create based on specific criteria, such as demographics, location, behavior** and more.

2. [**Live Segment**](/chatman-enterprise-whatsapp-platform/chatman-functions/segment/add-segment/live-segment.md)

A live segment is a **dynamic group that automatically updates based on real-time conditions** or criteria.

### **Search And Filter Segment**

The search and filter option in the segment tab helps you **quickly find the segment you're looking for for different purposes**, say for **adding an audience** **in the case of the** **static segment**.
